& everyone

Some games only work above a certain number of people. Werewolf needs a village. Would-you-rather needs someone willing to answer honestly and someone willing to judge them for it. Most of these games are older than any of us and none of them need an app — right up until the moment nobody can remember the rules, or who starts, or how many werewolves there are supposed to be for eleven players.

That is the gap this fills. Not the game. The five minutes of confusion before the game.

What it actually is

• Rules that answer the actual question — how many roles for this many people, who goes first, what happens in a tie
• A moderator that can be put face-down on the table, so nobody has to sit out to run the game
• Prompts and packs for the games where the content is the game

What it refuses to be

Not eight people looking at eight screens in the same room. The phone should be doing the bookkeeping nobody enjoys — dealing roles, keeping score, remembering whose turn it is — so that everyone can look at each other instead.

On the name: “& everyone” is a working title. It pairs with & us, which is either exactly right or a bit too neat. Open to being talked out of it.
